The community of Cowden, Illinois, is mourning the death of Paul Eldon Stevens, who passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at his residence at the age of 64. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones remembering a man known for his faith, storytelling, generosity, and love for those around him.
Paul was born on February 17, 1962, in Shelbyville, Illinois, and was a graduate of Shelbyville High School’s Class of 1980. He worked as a machine operator at Graphic Packaging for 25 years before retiring. He was a proud father and grandfather who enjoyed adventures, motorcycle riding, music, road trips, and spending meaningful time with his family.
A dedicated member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville, Shelby County Shrine Club, and affiliated with Cowden Free Methodist Church, Paul was remembered for his strong faith and his desire to share it with others. His kindness, humor, and ability to create lasting memories will be deeply missed.
Paul is survived by his daughters, Ashley Jones and Britany Riley, his sisters Joyce Irene Pendlay and Beverly Eldona Hopkins, and his seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and niece. Funeral services were held at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Illinois, with burial at Glenwood Cemetery.
